No creo que la etiqueta de área admita el "borde" en css? –

Lo que hice fue crear un elemento de tela que luego posición frente al mapa de imagen. Luego, cada vez que un área pasa a segundo plano, invoco un func que obtiene la cadena coord para esa forma y el tipo de forma. Si es un poli uso las coordenadas para dibujar un contorno en el lienzo. Si es un rect, dibujo un contorno rect. Puede agregar código fácilmente para tratar con círculos.

También podría establecer la opacidad del lienzo en menos del 100% antes de rellenar el círculo poli/recto. También podría cambiar la dependencia de un contexto global para el lienzo; esto significaría que podría tratar con más de 1 mapa de imágenes en la misma página.

@SyedHaiderHassan El jquery no funciona porque está en construcción. Creo que no hay otra forma o más de suerte al usar etiquetas de mapa. prueba otras alternativas :( –
