Android: Cómo poner el icono de cruz encima del texto de autocompletarVer

Question

Tengo un problema al poner el botón de cruz encima de la vista de texto. Estoy usando LinearLayout y no está llegando a eso, mientras que en Framelayout funciona, pero eso no resuelve mi propósito. Adjunto mi XML como referencia, ayúdenme a superar este problema.

Utilice la propiedad android: drawableLeft en EditText.

<EditText 
...  
android:drawableLeft="@drawable/my_icon" /> 

si desea agregar el icono de forma dinámica, utilice esto:
